This project is delivered by Espression Arts, with support from Kent Arts and Wellbeing, and is funded by the Colyer Foundation Family Trust
The project aims to reduce loneliness and improve the wellbeing of people living in supported housing and in the wider community. Progress has been very good and includes
- Coffee mornings established in 3 locations that are well supported by a range of clients including our own volunteers, carers, supported housing residents and members of the general public.
- Creative sessions in the supported housing venues of Whitgift Court and Lang Court are progressing very well. They include ceramics, a range of arts and crafts and animation
- A third venue is being explored are being explored
Following on from project experience and more general learning, we are planning to develop our approach on loneliness to include elements of the psychological of loneliness that can enhance our approach which primarily focuses on external causes.
The project has been well received, and participants would like it to continue beyond its planned finishing time in June. In that context it is good to report, that with support from Espression Arts, residents have created/revitalised their residents group and are now actively planning future activities.
